COMPUTER DETERMINATION OF GRAVITATIONAL CONSTANT VIA CAVENDISH BALANCE Description and Specifications for Lab Tenders

COMPUTER DETERMINATION OF GRAVITATIONAL CONSTANT VIA CAVENDISH BALANCE.
COMPUTER DETERMINATION OF GRAVITATIONAL CONSTANT VIA CAVENDISH BALANCE Cavendish balance is a torsion pendulum where an arm of light aluminum with 2 spheres of 15 g on its ends is hanging at its center by a tungsten wire with diameter of 25 microns and variable length. The typical period is equal to 2-4 minutes. This arm is inserted inside a frame of aluminium enabling to mount 2 spheres of 1 kg (attracting masses). Moreover this frame is hanging between the plates of a capacitor of a transducer mounted on the aluminium frame. This transducer includes two sensors used to eliminate the noise provoked by the motion of pendulum. The transducer output is proportional to the angular movement of the framework and it has a resolution of approximately 25 microradians. This transducer will measure only the rotational motion and minimize the undesirable component of pendulum motion. The framework also includes a small mirror used to calibrate the unit, and when an optical lever arrangement will be adopted. SOFTWARE This software is included in the system. The system can be connected with a PC via a USB cable. Data can be detected in continuous or discrete mode at rates of 10, 5, 2, 1, 0.5 samples per second. The number of displayed points will range from 512 to 32768. Data can be saved or transferred for later analyses. Users can adjust the screen to see the position of framework easily even at small amplitudes. COMPONENTS This unit includes 4 sphere, calibration needle, tungsten wire, handbook, software with directions.
