Cone Apparatus.
The Sand Cone Density test is an inexpensive method of determining inâ€place density of soils having maximum particle sizes up to 2" (51mm) using test hole volumes of approximately 0.1 cubic feet (2.8L). Sand Cone Density Apparatus is a 1 gallon (3.8L) threaded plastic jug with detachable brass double cone fitting. The brass cone is threaded on one end, flanged to 6½" (165mm) on the other, with a brass cylindrical valve of ½" (12.7mm) dia. orifice between ends. Valve has stops to prevent rotating past completely open or closed positions.
