HALL EFFECT Description and Specifications for Lab Tenders
HALL EFFECT.
HALL EFFECT When a conductor crossed by current is placed in a magnetic
field, a potential difference is developed across the conductor
in the direction perpendicular to the field and to the conductor
itself. The developed potential is called Hall voltage and this
phenomenon is called Hall effect.
A complete setup includes : a variable current source of 20
mA, 2 coils and U-shaped magnetic core with yoke fixed onto a
base. The equipment also includes some supports for keeping
germanium crystals mounted on PCB.
The set can be completed with power supply unit, a digital multimeter, data logger, and with transverse magnetic field sensor
.
TRAINING PROGRAM
• determining Hall voltage (of “p” or “n” type)
• determining Hall coefficient (of “p” or “n” type)
• determining the type of charge carrier (of “p” or “n” type, or not doped)
• determining of charge density of charge carriers (of “p” or “n” type)
• determining the resistivity of a certain sample (of “p” or “n” type)
